An accomplished and well regarded C-Level executive and leader with over 30 years of extensive experience in Information Technology gained from multinational corporations and the Nigerian public sector. Gerald Ilukwe was recently appointed Special Adviser on ICT and Chief Information Officer of the Kaduna State Government. Prior to his appointment he was Managing Director of Knowledge Resources Limited an ICT Consulting and Solutions firm he founded in 2016.

He served for 8 years as the pioneer Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Galaxy Backbone Ltd, the ICT company of the Nigerian government. Mr. Ilukwe was also the Country General Manager of Microsoft Nigeria with responsibility for West Africa and his career path includes Motorola Solutions, SAP Southern Africa and IBM Central Africa. Mr. Ilukwe maintains first-rate relationships with key ICT influencers in Nigeria and beyond. He has served on several high-level Federal Government committees on ICT policy and governance including; Technical Committee for the Establishment of the National Identity Management Commission, Petroleum Revenue Special Task Force, and Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) Review Committee. He also serves on the on the board of trustees of ICT development foundations in Nigeria.

His efforts in transforming the acquisition and use of ICTs in the Nigerian public sector have been widely recognized and under his leadership Galaxy Backbone won 1st prize for Africa Region in the United Nations Public Service Awards for 2013 in the category of Promoting Whole-of-Government Approaches in the Information Age.He is passionate about mentoring young ICT professionals as well as leveraging the transformative power of ICTs for good governance, enterprise and national development. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, a Master’s in Business Administration, and is an alumnus of Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government. He has also attended Executive Education programs on Leadership, Innovation, Partnerships, Venture Capital and IT Leadership from London Business School; INSEAD Business School, France; Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley and the CIO Institute at Carnegie-Mellon University, Virginia.
