Yusuf Z. Kazaure


Mr. Kazaure possesses a BSc and MSc in Architecture from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Bayero University Kano, he also has a Diploma in Computing from Oxford University in the UK. Mr Kazaure was recently appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nigeria Communications Satellite Ltd (Nigcomsat)Arc Yusuf Kazaure is a seasoned professional with over 30 years cumulative working experience spanning Architecture, Construction, Banking, Government and Information Technology. He started his career in public service where he was an Architect in the Kano State Ministry of Works and Housing before moving into the banking sector where he remained for 10 years. He was also in architectural practice for a short period when he established and ran his own firm. Thereafter with the return of democracy in 1999, he moved to Jigawa State Government where he served as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce and then Ministry Urban & Regional Planning and then served as the Director General in charge of International and Intergovernmental Affairs in the Executive Governor’s Office.

In 2002, he was appointed as the pioneer Managing Director/CEO of Galaxy Information Technology and Telecommunication Ltd - a Jigawa State owned ICT company. He was responsible for the planning, setting up and running of the award winning Jigawa Broadband Network which won several national and international awards especially in the use of ICT for development (ICT4D). His passion for deepening the role of ICTs for effective governance and national development resulted in Mr. Kazaure being a key member of the initial core team of Galaxy Backbone Ltd in 2006. One of the pioneer staff of Galaxy Backbone, he has at various times headed the Business Operations, Education, Development and States functions – which focused essentially on ICT4D Initiatives – and Customer Operations and Services departments of the company and later Executive Director before becoming Managing Director/CEO in September 2014 up until December, 2019.

In the period he has been with Galaxy Backbone, the company has laid the foundation for e-Government by creating an enabling platform that currently connects over 700 Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in over 4,000 locations across the country as well as providing data center facilities to support a one government approach.
